Golden Entertainment, the company behind Las Vegas’ iconic The Strat, is looking ahead to a promising future in 2025. Despite facing setbacks in the past, the executives of Golden Entertainment are confident that the business conditions will improve in the near future, as discussed during the latest earnings call.
Strong Position Amid Challenges
Charles Protell, the President and CFO of Golden Entertainment, described the year 2024 as transformative for the company. While the Q3 and Q4 results were not as strong as expected, the company is optimistic about the future, especially with its ongoing investments starting to yield positive results.
“We are confident in our business prospects for 2025 with expected organic growth to come from improved performance at The Strat, stabilized revenues in our new taverns, and the overall portfolio benefiting from the robust Nevada economy,” said Protell.
The executive team at Golden Entertainment is committed to exploring various options to generate shareholder value, including M&A activities and modernization of its land-based assets.
Exploring New Opportunities
Blake Sartini, the Chair and CEO of Golden Entertainment, emphasized the company’s focus on exploring strategic alternatives to drive growth. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to identify new business opportunities, building on the progress made in Q3 2024.
Protell noted that the company is not interested in small operations with limited capital, as they aim for sustainable growth. However, he acknowledged the need for proactive measures to address the company’s waning share price and pursue transformation activities.
Golden Entertainment looks to leverage the recovery in Nevada, where the business has seen improvements in slot play and property occupancy since a weak Q3. The casino EBITDA in Nevada rebounded in the fourth quarter of 2024, with margins increasing to 46%.
The positive trend continued into January, helping to offset some of the declines experienced in the previous quarter. With a strong position in the market and a strategic vision for growth, Golden Entertainment remains optimistic about its future prospects in 2025.
